Tips for Responsive Parenting

Dance around, sing your favorite songs, cuddle. It not only feels good, it’s good for your baby.
You can’t spoil a baby! Your baby needs to know that you will come when he needs you. Every baby responds differently to different ways of being soothed. Many babies like to be held closely and gently rocked.
When your baby makes sounds, respond as if she told you something. Taking turns vocalizing back and forth is the way babies learn to talk.
Read with your baby and tell her about the pictures in the books. What is interesting about them? Count. Name the colors. Ask questions. Make reading aloud a part of your daily routines The more you do it, the more she will respond and the more fun it will be.
Babies can even recognize music that they heard in the womb. Sing a lullaby. What songs do you remember from your childhood? Don’t worry if you’re not a good singer. Your baby still loves your voice the best!
Have fun, be silly, make jokes, play. Your baby’s smiles will be the greatest reward!
